At an awards dinner in Washington, D.C., Dr. Ferro was selected as the 2017 Junior Investigator of Year by the Canadian League Against Epilepsy (CLAE). The award, presented by Dr. Jorge Burneo (President of CLAE, left) honours a CLAE member within five years of their first academic appointment for outstanding research contributions in epilepsy. During his acceptance speech, Dr. Ferro thanked CLAE and his doctoral supervisor, Dr. Kathy Speechley (right), for their continued support of his program of research in the mental health and quality of life of children with epilepsy. In addition, Dr. Ferro encouraged trainees and early career investigators to get involved with CLAE and its activities, engage mentors, and continue to ask important questions to improve the health of children with epilepsy and their families.
